A NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM!

Gettysburg Address - "..that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have A New Birth Of Freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
President Washington added the words, "So help me God," a custom followed by every President since.

Melanie Smith, the Executive Director of the San Francisco Girls Chorus, announced that they would join the San Francisco Boys Chorus in a performance on the Capitol steps for the Inauguration of President Obama.  They were invited by Senator Dianne Feinstein and the joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, and "selected for their high level of artistic excellence, embodiment of the American spirit and promise for the future, according to Sen. Feinstein."

In addition, a list of performers for the Inaugural Parade has been released.  For the first time in history, the LGBA band will march in the Presidential Parade.  "I am honored to invite these talented groups and individuals to participate in the Inaugural Parade," Obama said in a news release. "These organizations embody the best of our nation's history, diversity, and commitment to service. Vice President-elect (Joe) Biden and I are proud to have them join us in the parade."

Also appearing will be the World Famous Lawn Rangers from Amazing Arcola, IL.  They were named in honor of the original Lone Ranger who was the Grand Marshall in 1981, when the Lawn Rangers first marched.

Visitors will also enjoy beautiful horse drawn Comfort Carriages from Maryland, the Crow Nation from Montana, the Brooklyn Music and Arts program, and many more talented bands and drill teams from across the country.
