Organizing For America Advocates Obama Economic Recovery

 My Zimbio

Obama volunteers continued to show their support for the President this past week-end when they came together at Economic Recovery House Meetings across the country.   While not at the levels of the campaign, most groups report a turn-out of at least 10%, which is pretty good considering the complexities of economic issues.

According to Mitchell Stewart, Director of Organizing For America, 3,587 meetings were held in 1,579 cities and 429 congressional districts.  “Americans organized Economic Recovery House Meetings in all 50 states — including 382 in California, 255 in Florida, 115 in Ohio, 199 in New York, 105 in Washington, and 149 in Texas.”

Organizing For America distributed the following video of Governor Tim Kaine.

Groups were encouraged to share stories of how the economic downturn is affecting them and their communities.

Other groups distributed Economic Stimulus information, including the changes made in the Senate version and the Tax Cuts in the House version.

We organized to call our Senators and Representatives, to encourage them to pass the stimulus and support a fully funded government, and encourage our readers to do the same.  Get out your phone bank numbers, watch the videos, and start calling to show our support.  We are the ones we have been waiting for, and this is the work that we need to do if change is going to happen.
